Wedding at Sandy Spring Heritage

The theme of Whitney and Michael’s wedding was a barbeque garden party with bluegrass and Celtic music. We have to say, the event was a big success. Despite the chilly weather, guests had tremendous fun and most stayed till the very end when they bid farewell with sparklers as the couple departed in a vintage 1930 Ford Model A Sports coupe called Ramblin’ Reck. The car is owned by the Georgia Institute of Technology. This is the car that rides onto the field at every home game.
One of the highlights of the evening was the live band Drivetrain from Atlanta. The couple told us they were very happy with the band. They did the ceremony as well as the reception music. As we found out, the band was also willing to learn new music to provide exactly what the couple wanted.
Sandy Spring Heritage is a small city park with two gazebos. One was used for the ceremony and the other was for the band during the reception. Buffet stations were stationed inside the Williams-Payne House overlooking the park. As we learned from the event director, this is a very popular location – it was nearly booked solid for the next seven months.
Thank you, Whitney and Michael, for your creative cooperation. Also, a big thanks to Elizabeth and Allen (whose wedding we photographed in May 2008) for referring us to Whitney. We felt like we were among old friends, since we already knew half of the bridesmaids and a few guests.
